I’m all about protection. I certainly was for my 3G. I wanted a soft case and a hard case and the absolute best compromise was two cases in one: the Switcheasy Capsule Rebel case. It protected my 3G so well that I was able to sell it as like new. [...]

Finally.
AppleCare for your Canadian iPhone has at last appeared on the Apple Canada website.  How will that affect those who bought the iPhone 3G before July 30, 2008?  That remains to be seen, and as soon as information becomes available, I’ll post it.  In the meantime, we usually take Apple at its word that AppleCare [...]

MobileMe iDisk
Apple’s latest app release offers a unique way to grab files off of your iDisk.  The app is free, but only users of Apple’s Mobile Me service ($60 to $100 per year, depending on whether you buy from a third party, Amazon or Apple itself; slightly more for a family pack of 5) can [...]

Just the news trumpeted by the title above:  the data plan that was supposed to end July 31st on Rogers has been extended to September 15, 2009.
It’s an industry-leading data plan.  Even AT&T’s supposedly ‘unlimited’ plan in the United States is capped at 5GB per month.

The coolest apps yet are going to be available in just over a month’s time (in September 2009 according to Apple).

[...]

fido’s iPhone
*It’s a big asterisk. The whole article follows!
Yes, fido is selling a $49 iPhone 3G 8GB. Of course, it’s a refreshed iPhone 3G but you really cannot tell the difference between this offering and a new one, on the outside, and you won’t ever see the inside.
For those who think a three-year [...]

After Apple released the software upgrade for the iPhone version 3.0, there were many reports of hacks that allowed tethering (using your iPhone as a wireless modem and connecting to the internet anywhere) on AT&T in the United States, even though–unlike in Canada–tethering is not allowed on that wireless provider’s network.
Now there are reports that [...]

So your iPhone 3G is broken, and the warranty just expired?
Don’t be afraid.
Apple has a little-publicized service whereby they will fix or replace your device for $229 CAD.
When you think about it, if your iPhone is broken down, it’s a pretty expensive device to fix any other way. It’s true that places like www.irepair.ca [...]
