Wildcharge iPhone wire-free charger?

Wildcharge.com claims to have produced a wireless charger that will be available for the iPhone, and other cell phones and iPods, in July 2009.

WildCharge Adapter Skin for iPhone
Enable your iPhone for wire-free charging with the WildCharge Skin. WildCharge technology is integrated into a flexible protective gel cover (“skin”) that fits snugly over the body of the iPhone. Embedded into the back of the protective skin is the WildCharge contact module that makes electrical connection with the surface of the WildCharger Pad (sold separately). Available in matte black only.

Includes: WildCharge Skin for iPhone and Installation Guide

You would need the adapter skin, and the charging pad. Not bad, it seems, for about $80 US together.

It remains to be seen how well this product will work. But hey, they couldn’t sell it if it didn’t work and it wasn’t true, right?

Am I being too skeptical about this product? We’ll see in July. I would love for it work!

Are we now that lazy that plugging in a USB cable is too much effort? Instead we want to be able to simply set something down without the hassle of a single cable? Sheesh. $80 for it too! You would also have to find more space to put that hideous looking pad. I’ll stick with the included AC/USB adapter. It fits in my bag a lot more easily than the giant charging pad.

I’d love living cable free, but finding a place for the pad would be interesting. As for taking it with you, that’s senseless.

But if it charged *all* your rechargeables? Even cooler.

Not exactly wireless when you have to make a physical connection anyways. replacing a wire with a big ugly mat.

We’re going too far with wireless these days anyways. RF fields everywhere with evidence mounting that it actually can cause health issues. I’ll take my wired charger thanks.

I think that it’s a good idea and will make life a little easier
