From the Forums: Unlocked iPhone 3G’s from Hong Kong PdaNet - The best tethering program you can get

I talked about this before, but I just wanted to remind everyone to order your replacement power adapter for your iPhone 3G. If you are like me, you put stuff off until the last minute and then quite often forget anway. This is important so don’t forget to do it. In fact, just order your new one right now, it takes 1 minute and 30 seconds and it doesn’t cost anything. Even Rogers/Fido reminded us.

Steps:

  • Starting by going here to begin the process
  • You will have to enter your iPhone’s serial # which is found under - Setting - General - About
  • You will then log into your Apple ID account
  • You with then confirm your address
  • Click submit and that’s it

The new adapter will be shipped to you around October 10th. You are required to send in your current one back to them and they will include prepaid shipping material. Hopefully all we have to do is drop it in the mailbox and not go to a Fedex location.

You’d still be able to walk into the apple store in the 10th and just exchange it right? I’d rather get one on the spot instead of waiting for the postal service

I logged in and did the process last week I think. It said 3 weeks till it delivered. Oh well, I never use that thing anyways.

I’m just wondering how serious this recall is… honestly is it a must?!!

  5. 5. AJ Says:

I already have one of the iPod chargers that protect the prongs so I’m good to go.

As with most other things, it’s not a big deal until something serious happens. The chances are probably slim that something will go wrong, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry. They are trying to make it as little of a hassle as possible.

I didn’t know we had to send in are old adapter. How are we supposed to charge the iPhone while we wait for the replacement?

  8. 8. Teebs Says:

… Is there anyone who’s planning on KEEPING their replaced charger along with their replacement charger?

-The only reason they want them back is so they don’t have any legal liabilities with their recalled item.

  9. 9. Teebs Says:

    @ Alessandro:

They will send you the new charger first, the replacement will include a return shipping label so you don’t have to pay for shipping. You just need to call UPS to arrange a pick-up time or just drop it off at a UPS store. Or just keep your charger for a back-up. Everyone always needs a second charger.

Thanks for the information Teebs. Good news that they are sending them out first.

umm…. i don’t know why, but this thing says i have an invalid Zip code/Postal Code.. lol… i tried my University address… then my home address… nothing works!!! lol

    anyone encounter the same problem?

  12. 12. Teebs Says:

    Try no spaces. Good luck!

  13. 13. SK13 Says:

hey good idea about keeping your old adapter. I mean I was going to walk into the store and just get a new one but now I think I’m just going to order it by mail and not return the old one. You cant get in trouble for that right?

  14. 14. Tony Says:

Ummm you can keep it but they’ll charge you for it. Not to mention they’ll probably charge and arm and a leg, so my advice would be not to keep it.

  15. 15. Alessandro Says:

If Apple wanted to they could easily keep track of who sent it back and charge those who didn’t via their iTunes account. Being that they are hazardous, I wouldn’t want to keep it anyway :p.
