This is actually my second bill since I’ve had the iPhone 3G, my first one included the iPhone cost. Now I can actually get a sense of what my monthly bill will look like.
There is one problem, the billing system didn’t give me any of my 200 included minutes. It started charging me from day 1 of the billing cycle. I ended up getting charged $40.37 for 134 daytime minutes. I only used 134 daytime minutes so it is pretty easy to tell that I didn’t go over my 200 alloted minutes.
Here is the summary of the bill:
As it is pretty clear, my plan includes 200 daytime minutes and I only used 134:25 during the day.
So I call into Fido customer service to get these charges reversed. The wait on hold was less than 2 minutes. We are off to a good start. The CSR comes on and I explain the situation. He then put me on hold to verify everything. A few minutes later he comes back on and says that since I don’t have unlimited incoming calls, when I do receive a call, that time is deducted from my 200 monthly minutes.
I am trying to stay calm because it is pretty obvious what has happened. I explain again, I have 200 minutes. The usage summary shows I’ve only used 134:25 daytime minutes, which is less than 200. I am put on hold again while he verifies and does calculations. 10 minutes later he comes back and says there appears to be some kind of problem and I was billed for all the daytime minutes. He has to verify with technical support.
Finally, after 45 minutes on the phone, the situation has been rectified. I appreciate their help, but this should have taken 5 minutes, not 45. It turns out some how the 200 minutes part was removed from my account. That’s weird since I’ve had this plan for 5 months now without any issues and even had another iPhone bill come in before this. Anyways, it’s over with. Not the way I wanted to spend part of my night.
So my total bill is $126.63 - $40.37 for a total of $86.26 minus a bit of tax. Not cheap, but not too bad.
My bill shows I’ve almost used 1gb of data. I think it is a little off. My first bill showed I had used 285mb. On September 9th, my iPhone showed usage of 1.7gb. Add those two together and you don’t get 1.7gb. So either the iPhone data counter is wrong or the Fido system is wrong. But who cares, I have 6gb, maybe 7 or 8 according to Fido’s system. I sent and received over 1000 texts again. I love texting on the iPhone.
I don’t think bill problems are the norm but have you had problems with yours?

Billing with Rogers and Fido is always a problem. I have actually not had a single month in the last 9 months where the billing system didn’t make a mistake such as charging for data per kb with a 6gig plan, charging for long distance even though i have long distance minutes on my plan, charging for early weekends when they are clear part of my plan, etc… each time I have to call in and convince the rep that a mistake was made.

with rogers they forgot to give me early evenings and weekends. They also charged me 100 for the 30 dollar data plan. Now I’m going to have to call and wait!

rogers regularly screws up my billing; I’m still waiting for a rebate that was supposed to be applied to my first iPhone bill.

1st month
- forgot to add 6pm, R2R and 6GB
- double billed me for my temp number and my actual number ported from another carrier
- billed me the $35 setup which should have been waived
2nd month
- added 6GB, but to my temp number only — resulted in $300+ in data charges
- forgot to apply 15% better bundles discount to my 6GB option — this was promised when I signed up and later verified when I received the phone
All fixed now (I think). My fingers are crossed for my October statement.

$86 isnt bad. I’m still trying to decide if I want the 3G iPhone. I am quite happy with the 2G now. I guess I will have to decide before teh 6gb plans are done.
Does anyone know if the white iPhones are still cracking?

Hey guys i’ve noticed that everyone around me is basically having issues with there bill, I don’t have a miracle for you guys but i do have something that might save you alot of money if you make long distance phone calls to Canada and Usa…
if you are a FIDO subscriber and you do alot of long distance you can use the 10-11-555 code right before your long distance, you’ll be billed on your account, but here’s the beauty with this code, you will be charged 4.5 cent the minute with no extra fees or hidden fees instead of 30 cents the minutes (that’s only for canada and usa those prices) if you call else where check out this website you might find it interesting….

For rogers or Telus or Bell or any other carrier in canada send me an e-mail i have a solution for you guy’s as well

@ Rudy
Looks kind of like you are doing some advertising to me, but if it works, thanks for the info.

@ Shirley
My replacement white one is fine and it looks like the problem was limited to a certain production week or weeks, so I think everything is ok now. If one does crack however, Apple should replace it no problem.

Something is missing on your bill.
There should be a section stating “Min. used and incl. in package” right above “Minutes used”. Very strange. Oh well, I guess you got your money anyways.

just got my first bill with iPhone 3G from Rogers
everything looks ok, except…
for some reason they charged me 4:00 weekday WD minutes for voicemail!
– even though I’m well under my minute total (Mega 35, 200+50 bonus WD), AND on top of that there’s supposed to be 3months free local calling.
I’m pretty sure minutes while checking VVM is supposed to be included/free, are they not? I assume some screwup - I couldn’t bother waiting on line this afternoon to talk to them, will try again tomorrow.

Rogers really sucks guys, they are the cheaters. I am on a corporate plan and have the 1st gen 8GB, I wanted to upgrade for the 3G 16GB and it is available on my corporate plan, but can you believe how much they charge for the device, $499 + tax. It really sucks, I have changed my mind not to purchase will stick to my 1st gen as their will be updates for the OS and Dev Team will break it very quickly. Just want to let the community no how does Rogers rip of from us.

Got my fido bill the other day. Everything looks fine except they charged me for data use on my phone. I called and told them my situation (I called to block the 3G and Edge before I even activated my phone). The Customer service rep was very professional and gave me the credit back.
You should always ask for a confirmation code when you ask them to block your 3G and Edge. (I learned it from this forum!)
I really like Fido!
