My battery life experiences with the 3G The Blackberry Bold: The biggest competitor to the iPhone 3G in Canada launches tomorrow

My wife received her iPhone today. Fido has told us that we would receive it by August 29th. I was curious to find out if we would be getting it any sooner because some people from the forums had said that they got theirs early. Some people were saying that if you enter your phone number as the tracking number on the UPS website, you could get the tracking info. I tried that and it didn’t work. I just thought maybe they hadn’t shipped it yet. But I decided to call in anyway to see if they had an actual tracking number. The agent wouldn’t give me the info because it was my wife’s account even though I was the one who placed the order over the phone. Anyway, right before I was about to hang up with the Fido CSR, my doorbell rang. No joke. It was UPS. I ran downstairs (in my boxers) and hid behind the door while I managed to sign for the package. That was good timing.

When she called in to activate it, the computer voice said there would be a 15 minute wait on the phone. An hour and 15 minutes later, she was finally able to activate it. I love Fido but I have never been impressed with their call centre.

So here is our new 16gb black iPhone 3G and the activation process at home:

Typical Fido wait stuff, but you know my personal policy on Fido…
Anyways, I had a question I was hoping you can answer for me…

So you can’t HUP the iPhone 3 months in right? Well what happens if, say my parents want to buy my iphone off of me at the 3 month mark?

I’m just trying to think of the possible outcomes here:
    - Can I just say to Rogers I want to give my current iphone to my parents and I want them to send me a new phone with my current number and all that happens is I pay $250 or $350 for an iPhone 3G and extend my contract another 3 months?

Is my iphone thats going to the parents locked to my account or anything or can they just activate a number without getting a new phone and just use the used iphone that I had with Rogers?

-sorry for the repeats but I’m just trying to figure out what happens if I sell my iphone and want to get another one basically… Can ya help me out? thanks

The way it looks now, 3 months from the date you got your iPhone, you could maybe get another, but I doubt they would allow it. It’s hard to say if they have some kind of block in their system which allows them to only sell you one within 3 months. Another option is just to open a new line on your account. If you sold your iPhone to someone else, they could use it no problem.

ur supposed to enter your phone number in the shipping reference area. It worked for me last month.

I think the agent did a good job on not providing the UPS tracking info.

If someone else gets enough info, they can actually call in to UPS and redirect the package to somewhere else.
