The Blackberry Bold: The biggest competitor to the iPhone 3G in Canada launches tomorrow What happens after August 31st?

Here is an interesting app that has appeared in the App Store. It’s called TimmyMe. What it does is allow you to find the nearest Tim Hortons location to where you presently are. It uses the iPhone’s location services. When you tap on the location, you will get the directions in google maps. All you have to do is load the app ad the locations will come up automatically.

I did notice that a couple locations were not showing up so I don’t know where the information is pulled from. You can search ‘Tim Hortons’ in google maps and the the same results but this is a two tap solution.

If you are already a Tim Hortons fanatic, you probably know where the nearest location is already unless you are out on the road. In some places in Canada all you need to do is look out the window to find the nearest location.

I am a Starbucks guy myself but I do enjoy Timmy’s coffee and the chicken salad sandwich is the best. In fact, I even used to work at one back in the day.

Funny thing is. If you are in Canada, just look up from your iPhone and look around. I’m sure there is a Tim’s within a block. Especially if you live in Ontario HAHA.

OMG in Southern ontario you will find a timmys at every light. LOL. I can walk to 3 different ones in about 5-10 min right now.

TimmyMe isn’t really a good name
it should be iDoubleDouble or iTimmy’s

It really is a great app but I did find a certain flaw. I noticed it directs me to the closest GPS wise, not best route/time-wise. For an example: I live near a peninsula where it thinks the second nearest Timmies is way on the other side of the peninsula when in fact there are many Timmy Ho’s before that one (route wise). So if you’re out of town I’d say it’s best to be safe and double check the nearest Timmys’s’ when you’re craving them quadzie-tripples.

Oh, and I like the TimmyMe it’s a fresh twist on the MobileMe, they are early pioneers leaving the “i”Fanatics in the dust!

I guess the SomethingMe is the new thing!

Maybe the next iPhone will be the PhoneMe. LOL.

I would have called it “TimMe” myself…

I discovered this app while visiting Toronto earlier this week.

But I found that it usually placed my current location incorrectly usually a couple blocks from my actual location.
The standard Maps app on my iPhone doesn’t have this problem so I wonder if it’s some kind of bug in timmyMe I’d the GPS API?

Anyhow as someone else noted already, in TO it seems the easiest way to quickly find a Tim Hortons is to just look down the block :-)

It appears the makers of TimmyMe came out with one for Starbucks as well, called BucksMe! Looks good, i wish they had the extra features of BucksMe in TimmyMe though!
