The lastest info on the iPhone 3G is posted on the main page
Here’s an interesting article from the National Post. They are suggesting that the Rogers iPhone data plan may include 100-200 mb’s a month. What a joke that would be. 100 mb lasts one week if that. I think they should at least offer us 1 gb if not unlimited.
Here’s piece from the article:
“Apple may agree to a “virtually unlimited” plan with Rogers for $35 a month (excluding voice) with data usage of 100 or 200 megabytes per month, the analyst suggested, adding that this should be more than sufficient. Apple could also insist that an “all-in” voice and data plan include things like free call features. Combined plans such as this, with 250 to 500 anytime minutes and unlimited evenings/weekend calls after 9 p.m., may cost $80 to $100 per month, Mr. Allen suggested.”

Obviously this guy does not know what he is talking about or hasn’t used an iPhone. Apple will not agree to 100 - 200 mb a month. In Ireland, there is a cap on the iPhone data use, but it is 1 gig. 200 mb is silly and would be an insult to us as consumers - like everything else they offer in regards to data isn’t an insult though.
Here’s what I want from the Rogers iPhone plan
- Unlimited data
- 250 daytime mins
- Unlimited evenings and weekend
- Caller ID and visual voicemail included.
- Unlimited texts
Will there be Rogers visual voicemail? Better be.
How much would I pay for that? I’d pay $80 a month. Maybe a little more. Anything higher is ridiculous and would be pushing customers away.
What do you think Rogers will offer us for the iPhone plan and how much would you pay?

I would pay exactly that for the plan you describe. I may go up to $100, but any more, and as hard as it may be, I may not buy the iPhone.

Honestly, i coudlint give a shit about minutes because i dont use them… so i dont need daytime or unlimited all i want from rogers is:

I don’t use that much anymore now since my girlfriend who I talked to for 2000 minutes a month is now my wife.
I want unlimited data and text too.
I think it’s possible we could get unlimited data, unlimited text would probably be an extra charge.

My wife just told me that she would get me an iphone for my b-day next month and as much as I want one there is no way I am going to pay more then $80/month for it. I have a land line and both my wife and I have cell phones with Bell. I am already giving Rogers more then $230/month for phone/cable/internet there is NO WAY I am giving them more then $80/month more even if I have to sacrifice the iphone.

When my wife and I got iPhones, we decided to cancel our home phone because we never used it. We still have one Telus Mike phone under contract for a few more months. How is your phone/cable/internet bill so high? When I had all 3 with shaw, it was 130, now that I cancelled the phone, it’s only 100. $80 a month is high, but it does seem likely. Any higher may be too expensive for most.

Honestly, there is no reason the plan should be any more than AT&T is charging in the states ($59.99 US = $60.962 CAD, June 23 ‘08). Rogers needs to lower its voice and data rates to what the rest of the world is paying. I realize that very few people (or no one) will not buy an iPhone just to make a statement, but that is what will have to happen if the price is anywhere near $80, even $65 is too much. Canadian telecoms are gouging us because either we don’t know any better or we won’t speak up about it. There was a class action suit against Canadian car companies for the same reason recently, where’s the suit against Rogers?

Everyone seems to forget that there is no GSM competition in Canada. Who are the customers going to go to? Fido? Owned by rogers… Telus? sure but no iPhone there, Bell? spotty service, bad provider, no iPhone. Telus and Bell are CDMA, so iPhone will never be supported by them.
Rogers has us over it’s knee and it can do whatever it wants.

It should be unlimited, this is an old post. There is no way 100-200mb would fly.

pfff. Rogers will never offer unlimited data plans. Look at their internet service, they have 60Gb caps and throttle the bandwith. I’m very excited about the iphone coming to Canada but the fact that it’s Rogers only pisses me off. Canada needs more telecommunication competition. 80$ would be great, but I doubt it. What other choice do we have than sign a 3 year plan with the Rogers kingdom?

custom package that would be great.
because some users need more data but not voice minutes. or other way around. but Rogers . . .

An unlimited data plan should be provided. $115 for 2G is not acceptable. I am not going to use IPhone if this is the service that I can get.

i have a blackberry and at th time, summer 08, i signed up for 6gb data pack, $30 a month, did require to get 1 year contract on it, but when i got my iphone its still the same plan, and same price works fine…Rogers are somewhat dicks, but if you talk to them you can get pretty close to what you want!

Are you CRAZY? Teens cannot affort 80$ a month. If they put it down a bit, i no most people in my school would get one. I dont care about free evenings and weekends, unlimited texting is better.
